Rev. Joe L. Pickett, Jr. is a native of Newark, New Jersey, where he received his early education. A proud graduate of the Newark Boys Chorus School and Arts High School, Rev. Pickett went on to complete his theological studies at Princeton Theological Seminary in 2016.

He accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully served in various ministries throughout the church. Recognizing the call to ministry upon his life, Rev. Pickett was licensed to preach in 2015 and ordained in 2019 under the North Jersey District Missionary Baptist Association.

In December 2025, Rev. Pickett was elected Pastor-Elect of The Second Macedonia Baptist Church of Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he is committed to preaching, teaching, and leading the congregation in discipleship, community engagement, and spiritual formation.

In addition to his ministry work, Rev. Pickett has built a distinguished career in the financial services industry, with over 20 years of experience in risk management and regulatory compliance. He currently serves in the Compliance Oversight division of one of the nation’s largest banking institutions.

Rev. Pickett is the devoted husband of Mrs. Demytri N. Pickett, and together they are the proud parents of four children.
